Overview

The Extruder Operator plays a key role at Stone, as it provides the operations and input for the daily production activities and how our process is followed, ensuring daily duties are completed and production goals are met.

Shifts: 8hr, Days. Requires some flexible availability for coverage and weekends.

Details

  • Ensure all work is conducted in a safe manner — think “Safety First”!
  • Manage all aspects of the production process, from raw material through to packaging finished parts.
  • Lead role in line start-ups, monitor machine performance, product quality and ensure the machine is producing at standard rates, sheet gauge, etc.
  • Perform and document process checks, at the prescribed frequency.
  • Adjust process to maintain consistent smooth operation.
  • Responsible for some regular machine checks and minor preventative maintenance.
  • Assist tooling changeovers, and maintenance activities.
  • Identify equipment maintenance deficiencies that require attention (e.g. worn bushings, guards loose/missing, leaks, etc.) and notify appropriate functions.
  • Communicate to Plant Management key issues
  • Assist in training others
  • Accurately follow BOM requirements and production schedule
  • Perform packaging changes
  • Package production at machine rate
  • Adhere to all plant/safety policies
  • Perform functions so as to maintain housekeeping standards

This is a manufacturing facility that goes through high heat and humidity in the summer months.

 

What we’re looking for

  • A Great Attitude!
  • Team player.
  • Hands-on experience in working with machinery and/or plastics processing.
  • 1+ years’ experience, working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and ownership of the job.
  • Computer proficiency: MS Office (Word, Excel etc.).
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written).
  • Physically able to do the work and lift up to 35 lbs.

Asset

  • Basic knowledge of theories and principles that apply in Plastics Processing, Manufacturing Machinery and Tooling.
  • Post-secondary diploma in a related field (e.g. electrical, mechanical, automation).
